I did this
and this
and this.
Oh, and I went to the farmers’ market, played wiffle ball, gardened, baked bread and muffins, knit, read, cleaned, and did laundry. But the picnic was definitely the most fun part.
I am forever exhausted by all your activities!!!

Comment by Jenn 05.21.07 @ 5:29 amWe had our Mad Tea Party, which could be qualified as a success. I had my costume made, as shown on flickr.
Of the 14 or so people who said they would show up, 5 actually made it. We had way too much food, most of it of a sweet variety, and so were all quickly buzzing with sugar rushes.
There were several interesting teas to try, and one person who didn’t really care for tea drank Pepsi from a teacup, served from a teapot. I couldn’t convince her to add milk or honey to it, though.
There was a white rabbit cake, made with red velvet, pictures of this are also on flickr.
We played chess, using people as the chess pieces, and moving them only after successfully answering Alice in Wonderland trivia questions. The winner received a mug labeled “The King’s Mug” which came with a warning about lead poisoning and probably shouldn’t be used to drink from.
We played “Once Upon a Time” – a storytelling card game – though my idea of requiring rhyme was vetoed quickly.
We played croquet, using Colossal Playing Cards as wickets, lawn flamingos as mallets, and finger puppet hedgehogs as balls. The winner won a couple of flamingo drinking glasses.
Of the seven people total present, only four had brought gifts for the unbirthday exchange, so that went rather quickly.
There were three identical top hats, one straw hat from mexico, a fine ladies hat, a dark and spidery veiled hat, and a very eccentric hat with lots of flora and fauna on it. The latter won the prize for “Hat with the Most Advanced Ecosystem.” The straw hat won the prize for “Least Conspicuous.” and one of the top hats won for “Newest Meme” The ladies hat won for “Best Hat in Which to Lose a Writing Utensil.” My hat was dubbed “Globally Warmest.” The veiled hat took the prize “Best Musical Score.”
No one won the “Hat that Reminds Us of Something the Cat Vomited on the Carpet” award, and we gave the “Hat Most Likely to Start a Nuclear War” to someone in absentia.
