Blatantly stolen from Amanda and then modified to present fewer titles, my top 15 movies I can watch over and over again:
- The Thin Man (always on my iPod for emergency airplane viewing)
- The Princess Bride (my default sick day movie)
- White Christmas (probably my favorite Christmas movie)
- Benny and Joon
- The Breakfast Club
- The Muppet Movie
- The Wizard of Oz
- The Sound of Music
- Anne of Green Gables
- The Philadelphia Story
- Mary Poppins
- Pride and Prejudice
- Beauty and the Beast
- The Lord of the Rings trilogy
- The Harry Potter series (I know! I redid the rules and then totally cheated on them with these last two entries!)
What would be on your list?
In no particular order, those that come to mind immediately are:
My Fair Lady (Hepburn)
Desk Set (Hepburn/Tracy)
Shall We Dance (Astaire/Rogers)
Swing Time (Astaire/Rogers)
Charade (Hepburn/Grant)
To Catch a Thief (Grant/Kelly)
The Wizard of Oz
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Abyss
Star Wars (1977)
Guess I need to think of a few more!

Comment by amanda {the habit of being} 01.26.11 @ 2:23 pmA bunch of your movies would be on mine, too — White Christmas is my favorite Christmas movie, and I love The Thin Man! Also, The Breakfast Club, Philadelphia Story, and the Wizard of Oz. I’d add It Happened One Night, Lost in Translation, and, as a real change of pace, Animal House.
Comment by janna 01.27.11 @ 10:19 pm@amanda: I love Johnny Depp and Mary Stuart Masterson.
@janna: You’re right: It Happened One Night is also excellent.
