I have to say I really didn’t expect Connecticut representatives would roll over and play dead, adding a DOMA to the bill. Now I have to hope the bill is defeated.
Damn.
Civil Unions are NOT worth a DOMA. We’ve worked too hard for too long to keep DOMA’s out of CT. Now how are we going to stop this train wreck?
Peace, Ryvr

A large part of the problem with the issue of gay rights with regard to marriage, civil unions, and the deliberately misleading “Defense of Marriage” agenda is that instead of two sides to one issue, there are two opposing sides who are working on two different issues.
I have talked to people who oppose gay marriage, who voted for DOMA laws, and asked them why. I could not convince them with logic that this was an issue about a legal contract, and the legal rights, responsibilities, and ramifications of that legal contract. It was not something they could put into a rational or logical context. Reactions, opinions, and viewpoints were on an emotional and spiritual level. Logic can’t communicate with that.
